Don’t be put off by small numbers. “Precision turned parts supplier Europe” might show 50 searches a month, but every one of those searches is a buyer with a drawing in hand. In manufacturing, keyword value beats keyword volume.
Find the Questions Engineers and Buyers Ask
Question-based searches are a goldmine for manufacturers, because engineers google technical questions all day: “what tolerance can CNC milling achieve,” “can you powder coat galvanized steel,” “what is EN 1090 certification.”

If you know where your target buyers and engineers hang out online, mine those places for topic ideas.
Let’s say your target customer is a purchasing engineer at a German machine builder looking for a CNC machining supplier.
Browse forums like Practical Machinist, subreddits like r/Machinists and r/manufacturing, or LinkedIn groups for purchasing and supply chain professionals. The questions that come up again and again (“how do I compare quotes from different machine shops,” “what should be on a drawing for an RFQ”) are ready-made article topics.
(Once you publish an article on that topic, reply to the thread with it. It’s a legitimate way to promote your content and earn a link or two.)
Listen in on LinkedIn, YouTube, and Trade Fairs
Industrial buyers aren’t on Instagram for work. They are on LinkedIn, and their engineers are on YouTube watching machining channels.
Follow hashtags like #cncmachining, #sheetmetal, and #manufacturing on LinkedIn, and read the comments under popular machining videos. The questions people ask there are search queries waiting to be answered.

As mentioned earlier, the industrial buying process is long and involves several touchpoints.
Here are the stages your buyers pass through:
- Awareness: They have a project and a rough idea of the process they need
- Consideration: They compare processes, materials, and types of supplier
- Decision: They are shortlisting suppliers and sending RFQs
- Retention: They are ordering regularly and want fewer problems per order

If you’re creating content as part of your SEO strategy, our best advice is to make it long-form wherever the topic deserves it.
Cover your topic comprehensively and in depth.
There are many reasons to create long-form content, but the one that matters here is that Google favors it: the average page 1 result contains 1,447 words.

Google also values content with high E-E-A-T: experience, expertise, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness.
For a manufacturer, experience is the easy part. You have a shop floor full of it. A photo of the real part, a note on which machine ran the job, the tolerance you held, the problem you solved for the customer: that is E-E-A-T content that no marketing agency’s blog can fake.

Luckily, it’s easy to format your content for people who skim:
- Use short paragraphs to keep the reader moving from one idea to another
- Use subheadings that name the process, material, or specification
- Put machine specs, tolerances, materials, and lead times in tables
- Use bullet points for certifications and capabilities
- Use real photos of your parts and machines, not stock photos of robots
Check if your content is scannable by doing it yourself.
If a buyer can find your maximum part size in five seconds, you’re doing it right.

There are more search engines than Google.
In fact, the second biggest search engine is one you probably failed to think of: YouTube.

For starters, double-check that the site is accessible to search engine crawlers. Remove any noindex tag from pages you want to appear in search.
It’s also worth creating a sitemap to make crawling your site and identifying key pages easier.
Many content management systems (CMS) create and update a sitemap for you automatically, along with SEO plugins like Yoast or Rank Math. Still, it’s always worth double-checking that your capability pages are included.
One thing we see on many manufacturing websites: the capabilities live in a PDF brochure. Google can’t rank a scanned brochure the way it ranks a proper page. Put your processes, machine park, and tolerances in HTML pages, and keep the PDF as a download.
